Science contributes to technology in at least six ways:
- Direct source of ideas for new technological possibilities
- Efficient engineering design and knowledge base for evaluation feasibility of designs
- Aboratory techniques and analytical methods used in research and find their way into design or industrial practises
- Development and assimilation of new human skills and capabilities, eventually useful to technology
- Increasingly important in the assessment of technology in terms of i social and environmental impacts
- Enables more efficient strategies of applied research, development, and refinement of new technologies
Technology uses science to solve problems and science uses technology to make new discoveries.
